Universal Academy Middle School Language Arts Teacher
Job Summary
The Middle school teacher will help students improve their reading, writing and communication skills. Plan and design and implement educational lectures about grammar, involve group discussions about books and editing and roof reading.
Middle school teacher duties and responsibilities
Help students develop their reading, writing , listening and speaking skills with an aim of expanding their capacity to use English language both for communication and personal enrichment
Under the Language Arts teachers guidance students will learn to conduct research, create presentations and critique the content of text and other media.
Language Arts Teacher will monitor students' progress through assignments, and tests.
Focus the curriculum specifically to support student success in standardized tests.
Supervise the behavior of all students in the classroom, throughout school grounds, and on educational trips.
Plans and develops an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom, adhering to educational best practices and state and school district curriculum guidelines.
Work collaboratively with other teachers and administrators, including special ed teachers and teacher's aids, to provide individualized support for each student on a regular basis.
Prepare materials for lessons, assignments, and tests; evaluates, corrects, and grades student performance.
Discuss academic difficulties or behavioral problems with students as they arise.
Monitor students' progress throughout the year and evaluate preparedness for high school/college
Communicate all progress and concerns with tact and professionalism to parents and, as appropriate, other faculty and principal.
Build and maintain positive relationships with parents.
Enforces safety and security standards for students, and visitors.
Collaborate with other teachers in order to share best practices and provide meaningful feedback regularly.
Modify lesson plans and materials as needed to make them suitable for students' current learning levels.
Maintain knowledge of research, developments, and best practices in secondary school level.
Perform related tasks such as sponsoring student activities or organizations.
Ability to work effectively with diverse staff, parents, and community members
Action-oriented and adaptable approach to curriculum planning
Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people

Complete daily student attendance, enter grades, complete progress reports online
Complete weekly quiz trackers for collecting data on students' academic progress.
Attend quarterly academic data meetings to discuss students' academic data
Talk to parents about their children's progress
Document parent teacher communication
Attend weekly professional development trainings
Monitors hallways, study periods, and lunchrooms with other faculty and staff
Maintain required paperwork for individual student files, attendance and incident reports, and other necessary records.
Qualifications
Middle/ High School teacher will be thoroughly committed to Universal Academy's mission.
All candidates must enjoy working with students, have a positive attitude, and serve as a role model for our students.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
State teaching license required.
Previous teaching experience with secondary-school aged students preferred.

Skills/Personal Attributes
Thorough understanding of pedagogy and the best practices of education.
Ability to use technology i.e. smart boards, knowledge of Microsoft office
Desire to teach secondary school students and ability to adapt to their developmental status.
Ability to design lessons that teach curriculum in an engaging manner, applying various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and individual or collaborative projects and research.
Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom.
Creative analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Must be able to traverse school facility and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.
