Job Description

Northwestern College seeks a part-time administrative assistant (approximately 1,000 hours between August 1 and May 31) to begin in January 2026. This role provides essential administrative support to both the Department of Business and Economics and the Center for Innovation and Leadership.

 Key Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word) and Microsoft Teams
  • Willingness to learn Canva for design and marketing tasks
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to balance responsibilities across two dynamic offices
  • A proactive, service-oriented attitude with creative and innovative thinking
  • Preferred experience in social media management

About the Department of Business and Economics

The Department of Business and Economics offers bachelor’s degrees in accounting, business administration, business education, economics, and public relations, as well as an online MBA program. Approximately 300 students pursue one or more of these areas of study.

Departmental Duties for This Position:

  • Support faculty in recruiting, retaining and graduating outstanding students
  • Build relationships and create positive on-campus experiences for prospective and current students
  • Manage communication and collaborate with other departments across campus
  • Collaborate with student-led business clubs on maintaining the department’s social media and marketing presence
  • Organize and schedule meetings and departmental events
  • Maintain and organize departmental records, digital files and other materials
  • Track budgets, record expenses and perform monthly reconciliations

The center invests in communities, organizations and initiatives through collaborative, innovative, Christ-centered leadership development and problem-solving services and opportunities.

Center Duties for This Position:

  • Assist center leadership with program operations
  • Manage calendars, coordinate meetings, and plan and organize events
  • Handle internal and external communication (email, social media) and create content for social media platforms
  • Oversee process management for micro-credentials and other initiatives
  • Collaborate with the advisory board and supervise a work-study student to support program initiatives
  • Track budgets, record expenses and perform monthly reconciliations
