Job Description Summary

The Graduate Nurse - Entry Level Registered Nurse (GN-RN) reports to the Nurse Manager and provides personalized, goal-oriented nursing care to patients and their families, utilizing the nursing process. Under the supervision of an experienced Registered Nurse, the GN-RN interacts with the healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care through the complete nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Lead and collaborate with team members to provide care that is appropriate for the patient's age and development.
  • Focus on holistic, patient/family-centered care, considering physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and environmental needs.
  • Conduct assessments, develop nursing diagnoses, and establish care plans to meet the individual needs of patients.
  • Ensure a safe, therapeutic environment that respects patient privacy and promotes respect and professionalism.
  • Actively participate in a dynamic professional practice model, including shared governance and peer review systems.
  • Coordinate care effectively through care management principles aimed at improving patient outcomes.
  • Recognize and address clinical priorities promptly to enhance care delivery.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance clinical skills and leadership capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Nursing degree is preferred.
  • Registered nurses hired after July 1, 2013, with an Associate or Diploma in nursing are expected to enroll in an accredited BSN program within two years and complete the degree within four years of hire.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a registered nurse is required.

Licensure and Certifications

  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) recognized provider.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Must be able to perform various physical activities, including standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and maintaining good vision and hearing acuity. The role requires effective stress management and the ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as needed. Must also be able to meet the physical qualifications for respirator use.
